DREAR DAKOTA.
Snow Over One Foot Deep and Much Suffering Experienced.

St. Paul, Minn., November 8. - Reports from points in South Dakota report a remarkably heavy fall of snow for this season of the year. A Huron special says 12 to 14 inches of snow covers the ground in that portion of the state, more than fell all last winter and the heaviest fall so early in the season for 16 years.

Thousands of acres of corn are covered and but a small portion of the crop has been threshed.

Settlers are unprepared for winter and much suffering will follow. The snow has drifted and railway trains are impeded.

Chamberlain and Miller report heavy loss to stock and much suffering as a result of the severe weather.
