"Ask Paul Magriel, he'll know the answer," has become a byword among the literary-minded of Keesler Field.
Private Magriel is that solemn bespectacled gentleman who "rules the desk" while on shift at the Post Library.
Curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Dance Archives, New York City; member of the Theatre Library Association, Music Library Association and American Bibliographical Society, Private Magriel has written books on the lives of Igor Stravinsky, Isadora Duncan and others, as well as "The Bibliography of Dancing" and "Outlined History of Ballet."
He was a personal friend of the late Thomas Wolfe; of such dancers as Ted Shawn, Leonide Massine, Catherine Littlefield, Martha Graham and Toumanova. He was assistant director of the American Ballet Company and the only American member of the Societe des Ecrivains de Danse.
He also has arranged exhibitions of dance photography at the Museum of Modern Art.
