New-York, Feb.17.
Please to give the following extract of a Letter; just received, a Place in your Monday's Paper, viz.

When the News of Capt M'Dougall's, Imprisonment, was brought to a large Company of Gentlemen, in a neighbouring Colony, one of them instantly took Fire; and starting from his Chair, uttered himself in the following short animated and patriotic, Speech:

What, a Son of Liberty attach'd upon Liberty Ground! Heavens! Shall American Zeal be in Danger in America? Is there Guilt then in a sacred Jealousy for the Liberties of our Country? They are our Enemies that say so--. Our Denial of the Parliament's Power to tax us, has been called Treason, by Miscreants; and that they, may punish it as such, here are who want to try our Patriots at Westminster, and quarter them at Tyburn.
A Libel do they call it!--To-morrow it may be called Treason, And who knows but that some Men, even in this Country, may have it in their Hearts to send our Patriots from Goal here to die as Traitors in England!.
Sons of Liberty, awake to holy Vigilence.---Be suspicious of an Attack upon your Fellows in this Land.---Salvation under God must come from our Virtue and Courage,---Trust not in the Rich, they trust in their Wealth, and will sneak in an Hour of Distress: If the middle Class sleep, Perdition is just before us.
What have we been contending for ever since the Noble Virginians set the glorious Example -- A Libel.--.Curse on the Star Chamber Law,---Let every worthless Name give Way to the public Weal and Truth.---The Gentleman's Cause imprisoned at New-York, is the Cause of the whole continent; and from this moment, I devote my Fortune and my Life, to secure him fair Play. To which the whole Company agreed-
