Congress of the United States.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

Tuesday, February 13.

[Taken for the Alexandria Gazette.]

Mr. Stanley obtained leave of absence for Mr. Goldsborough for a fortnight.

Several private petitions were presented and referred.

On motion of Mr. Fish, the bill providing for taking the third census of the U. States, was taken up in committee of the whole, Mr. Munroe in the chair.

Several amendments were made to the bill, and at half past 4 the bill was reported so as now.

In making our report of the proceedings on the bill for incorporating the Episcopal Society in Alexandria we inadvertently omitted the following:

In order to secure any claim which the county or parish of Fairfax might have to any property claimed by the said society of Alexandria, Mr. Lewis offered the following amendment which was added to the fifth section of the bill.

Provided that nothing in this act shall be construed to affect the claim or claims of any person or persons, county or parish in and to any property now in the possession of the said church or claimed by it.
