Advices are received by the above ship, which inform that the Pool nation (who are a people about an hundred miles above Fort Lewis, and who are in continual war with the Moors) had made several attacks upon Fort George, at Padore, a garrison lately built there by Governor O'Hara, in one of which attacks that happened the beginning of May, while Captain Paterson, the Commandant, was pointing one of the cannon loaded with grape shot amongst them, he was by a musket ball, killed on the spot; his loss is very much lamented by all who knew him.
