Ed. Editor: We trust that the efforts which the Advertiser is making to benefit the financial condition of the country, will be met by the people in a proper spirit. No one would advocate such an absurd proposition as that the producers alone should reduce the price of their produce. It is only suggested to them, for their honest consideration, and that of our common country; that they take the initiative or first move in such a measure, and compel by their influence and example, and a similar reduction in prices in other departments of labor. The movement is being made in some of the Districts of the State, and should be imitated in a large and influential District like Edgefield.
We suggest that a meeting of the citizens be held at the village on sale day in October, to consider the condition of the country, and the best remedy for the reduction of prices. Call out the people, Ed. Editor, and let us make an effort at least, for reform in this matter.
