THE LEGISLATURE,

Have been principally employed in local matters of no great moment. The Hon. Fisher Ames, accepts the choice of a Counsellor, vice Salem Towne, Esq. resigned.

The Senate and House formed a Convention and elected John Avery, Esq. Secretary of the State, and Peleg Wadsworth, Esq. Treasurer for the current year.

In the House, June 4, a committee was appointed to consider whether any further measures are necessary to be adopted respecting the Ten Townships on the Penobscot River lately purchased of the Indians.
