Full Text

Sterling, Ills., Jan. 31—The village of Rock Falls is in somewhat of an uproar, because a man and woman named Seymour having beaten, starved and otherwise brutally misused a seven year old daughter of Mrs. Bolton, whose husband is in the insane asylum. The little girl was working for the Seymours, but has now been taken away and is under a physician's care. Twenty or thirty people last night visited Seymour for the purpose of lynching him, but he escaped with his life, and a diligent search failed to discover him. The methods of cruelty employed upon the innocent child are too diabolical for mention.
