Full Text

Hague, Feb. 6. N. S. By the freshest Advices from Brabant, the French before Brussels had not yet got any Battery in a Condition to fire. The two Regiments of Imperial Hussars from the Rhine are supposed to have joined Prince Waldeck; and the whole Corps of General Barany, consisting of 11 Battalions, 12 Companies of Grenadiers, two Regiments of Dragoons, and two of Hussars, is marching down to Brabant, by the Way of Maestricht; their High Mightinesses having not only granted them the Passage over their Territory, but allowed them to pay what they want on their March with Paper. All Dutch Officers and Soldiers are ordered to their Posts; and the States have named an additional Lieutenant General, a Major General, and two Brigadiers to assist Prince Waldeck; and as the Desertion is very great in the French Quarters, in Order to encourage it, they have published a general Pardon for all their own Deserters that shall come back again.

The two Battalions withdrawing from Vilvoorde, and some other Troops, having repossessed themselves of Mechlin, Prince Waldeck ordered back a Detachment to the first mentioned Place, the French not having possessed themselves of it. It has since been attacked; but when the last Letters came away, the Castle still defended itself, having four small Cannon the French employed against it. A French Detachment has Taken Possession of Louvain.
