Sealol Corporation Presented Award By Defense Department

RADM Henry Crommelin, Naval Base Commander, acting as representative of the Secretary of Defense and the Chief of Naval Operations, presented the Department of Defense award to the Sealol Corp., of Providence Thursday morning. The Admiral and his aide, LT Edward Mountford flew by helicopter from Newport to Warwick Industrial Park where they made the presentation to Mr. Clement W. Williamson, president of Sealol. In making the award, RADM Crommelin quoted a paragraph from a letter Secretary of Defense Neil McElroy had written Mr. Williamson, in which he said: "This award is presented you to express the Department's appreciation for the outstanding cooperation to Reservists and Reserve activities achieved through personnel policies you have established. You have thus encouraged and assisted your Reservists in fulfilling their military obligations. Such patriotic foresight provides a real assistance to the success of our defense effort, and the Department is deeply grateful." The award consisted of a framed citation and distinctive pennant. Following the ceremony, RADM Crommelin and other guests were escorted on a tour of Sealol, which among many other things manufactures valve seals for aircraft and submarines. The ceremony ended with a luncheon.
