Full Text
The Tabor City Parent Teachers Association will propose the project of purchasing and erecting a metal fence around the entire school grounds here at a special meeting to be held in the auditorium Monday night at 7:45 p. m.
"We are holding this democratic meeting and inviting everyone to come and discuss this project either pro or con," Mrs. R. P. Counts, president of the P.T.A., said today. "Anyone not
favoring the project will have ample opportunity to present his views."
The need for the fence has long been voiced by many local citizens and obviously would lessen the possibilities of children suffering highway injuries by keeping them out of highways and streets which surround the grounds.
It is understood that the total cost of the metal fence would be about $1200 and that it would be erected by local groups at no additional cost. Some funds are believed to be available for county appropriations and the local P.T.A. has a sizeable amount to apply on the project should it be approved by those in attendance at the Monday night meeting.
In addition to serving as a safety barrier for school children, the fence would also help protect flowers and shrubbery which are proposed in the beautification of the school grounds.
