ALEXANDRIA, February 21.

Extract of a letter from a gentleman in England, to his friend in this town, dated December 3.

"The exportation of corn has been stopped by an arbitrary order of the Privy-Council, which comprehended ships already in loading and chartered. The soldiery are shifting their stations every month. The dock yards are full of workmen. The government is encouraging counter associations (for perpetuating all manner of abuses, as we call them) in opposition to the associations for Parliamentary reform, which have overspread the land. and which, if they succeed in the first step, will certainly urge on the government to republican measures. Stocks have fallen from 96 to 75. within three weeks; in a word, an alarm that "the state is in danger," has gained ground every where; & some are looking for an insurrection and some for a French war."
