Senator All Alone On Interracial Marriage Bill

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(CNS) Senator Cole, Maryland's first Negro State Senator, will be all alone as he seeks to repeal a ban on interracial marriages.

A Republican from the 4th district of Baltimore, Cole will not get any backing from his own party in Minority Leader Kimble. Remarked Kimble: "The people of this state have taken a tolerant attitude toward racial matters but I do not think they would be tolerant toward Senator Cole's plan."

Cole is undeterred by his party's attitude. He says he has not yet decided when he would introduce his bill.
