Will Be Show Place In City
Atlanta's top official of the Urban Renewal Department predicted Monday night that in the near future the Butler Street Project Section will be a show place for the city.
Col. Malcolm Jones, director of Urban Renewal for the City of Atlanta, made this prediction at a session in the second annual Urban Renewal Clinic Series, sponsored by the Empire Real Estate Board, held at Big Bethel AME Church, with J. H. Calhoun presiding.
Col. Jones said urban renewal is not simple, but a slow, complicated process, which requires time, patience, effort and ingenuity. He also noted that in recent months the entire atmosphere and climate of the urban renewal program has changed.
General statements concerning the purpose of the meeting were made by Chairman Calhoun and Q. V. Williamson, president of the Empire Real Estate Board, as the session got underway.
