The Moniteur, a Paris paper, of the 14th June, contains a statement of the revenue and trade of St. Domingo for the year 8, 1799-1800, communicated by M. Bizard, comptroller of the Navy at St. Domingo. The Moniteur observes that they are the more valuable, as they are the only exact accounts that have been received these ten years.

From these it appears that the receipt for that year was 17,485,771, currency of the islands: and the expense 16,803,578, ditto balance 631,193.

The amount of the importation in the same period was, in all 44,720,261 francs. These importations were brought in by 598 vessels, of which only one was French.

The exportations were more considerable, but the gross value is not mentioned. The customs, however, are stated to have been 4,856,538, while the import duties were 3,460,685. These exports made through 1,173 vessels, of which 14 were French.

Upon the whole the Moniteur states that the whole produce of the island now is not one-fourth of what it was in 1789.
