The Buchanan Democracy of Worcester had a meeting at their headquarters on Saturday evening last, C. E. Pratt, Esq., in the chair, and E. B. Briggs secretary, and selected the following delegates and substitutes to their State Convention of September 16th ;-
Delegates—Isaac Davis, James Estabrook, G. W. Bentley, Nathan Washburn, Edward W. Lincoln, Henry Murrey, James S. Woodworth, M. O'Driscoll, Calvin B. Pratt, N. P. Moore, James M. Studley, Garden Childs, George W. Gill.
Substitutes—S. Dennis, F. C. Bigelow, Henry W. Conklin, Charles S. Childs, Charles Paine, E. N. Childs, Thomas Lawler, Lindall Freeman, Walter Henry, Charles Curby, Courtland H. Newton, John B. Pratt, P. O'Rourke.
A committee, consisting of one from each Ward, was chosen to report at an adjourned meeting on the Saturday after the State Convention, a City Committee for the ensuing year.
Several distinguished lights of the party were called upon to enlighten the audience by their eloquence, but they declined.
A series of resolutions, offered by the Chair, committing the Democracy of Worcester to the national platform of 1848, '52, and '56, against the nominees of every and all other parties, and in favor of Beach for Governor, was passed unanimously, and the meeting then adjourned to Sept. 19.
