Full Text

Two of the Pawnee Indians now in jail at Omaha, and just tried and found guilty of the murder of McMurty, attempted to commit suicide the other day, both in rather a novel manner. The Republican says one of them, named Little Wolf, got a round piece of wood, about six inches in length and somewhat sharpened at one end, which he drove, by pressing against the wall, about an inch and a quarter into his chest, between the ribs. The other, named Horse Driver, got a stick of wood about a foot in length, and thrust it down his throat until not a sign of it was to be seen.

Several doctors were sent for, one of them pulled the stick from the stomach of Horse Driver. It is evident that both men have given themselves bad wounds but it is not thought either will produce death.
