False Reports.—The notice of two battles which we published in part of our last week's issue, turns out to be untrue. Hundreds of rumors are in circulation these times which have no foundation in truth.

It was reported last week that the eastern coast of North Carolina was invaded, but it was a false alarm. Speaking of these false reports, the Norfolk Day Book says:

"This morning the supply of material for rumors was considerably augmented by a report which seemed to be worthy of trust. A messenger arrived from Camden county, N. C., stating that the enemy's flotilla had entered Cape Henry Inlet and landed 1,500 men at the Five Mills in Camden county. His tracks hadn't cooled before another from a different section of the same county reached as confirming all that had been brought us by the first one, and we hadn't got quite thoroughly prepared to believe it all before still another came stating that it was all a mistake, there was no federal forces there, etc. So it goes. In the meantime boys, keep your powder dry, and be certain of your man when you fire."

The Petersburg Express says that the transmission of telegraphic news from the different military posts in Virginia has been interdicted as a needful precaution against the enemy's learning the movements and operations of our troops.
