Only One Candidate for the Presidency in Mexico.
CITY OF MEXICO, Nov. 20.—Reports received by the Liberal party general committee from all over the republic show many demonstrations on the part of the people in favor of the re-election of President Diaz, and he will be the unanimous choice of the national convention of his party. The report telegraphed abroad that he intends refusing a nomination has only the basis of his natural disinclination to continue in office and his desire to take a well-earned rest, but the pressure upon him to accept the renomination is almost irresistible, coming not only from the leaders of the Liberal party, but from many eminent men in the Conservative party, who are averse to any change.
At the Home of Diaz,
OAXACA, Mexico, Nov. 20.—A great political demonstration in favor of the re-election of President Diaz took place here to-day, in which bankers, merchants and the neighboring planters, as well as all the prominent foreigners, including Americans in business here, took part. The city was handsomely decorated and there was much enthusiasm for Oaxaca's favorite son, Gen. Porfirio Diaz.
