Paris, May 16. O. S. The King has sent Orders to the Intendants of the several Provinces, immediately to proceed to the levying of the Imposts to which the Clergy are assessed; they are withal directed to demand of all Ecclesiastics possessed of Benefices, or any other Funds, within their respective Districts, to deliver in exact and particular Schedules of their several Revenues, under the Penalty of Seizure, except a Reserve of so much as shall be accounted necessary for the Subsistence of such Ecclesiastical Possessors of Lands.

A Deputation from the Parliament having remonstrated to his Majesty relating to an Edict for a new Loan which the King designs to issue, his Majesty dismissed them with this Answer: Gentlemen, having valid Reasons for issuing this Edict, it is my Pleasure that it be registered.

The Arret, against which the Parliament made a fruitless Remonstrance, is for a Loan of twenty Millions, on Annuities, at ten per Cent. without any Distinction of Age or Calling.
