Full Text
Just as the continental meat dealers sought to better their own trade by circulating the charges that American meat was diseased and our pork full of trichinae so the German millers are busily circulating the stories that American flour is adulterated with sulphate of baryta and plaster of paris as well as with corn meal and potato flour. That such adulteration is common among those who are circulating these charges there is no doubt, and such has long been known to be the case. That they should endeavor to throw the odium of such rascalities upon their foreign competitors is but the natural sequence of their former acts.
