On Friday the 9th instant, the Governor of this state met both Houses of the Legislature in the Senate Chamber, and communicated his Speech, on the business of the present session. Among other objects contemplated in the Speech, was, the opening of the navigation of the Susquehanna; a plan for forming a communication by water, with a few easy carrying places, from the Ohio to the rivers (particularly the Delaware) falling into the Atlantic Ocean; and a negociation between the states of Pennsylvania and Maryland for the purpose of uniting the navigation of the Delaware and Chesapeake bays, and thereby opening a new avenue from this port to the ocean.
