The "Important Inquiry."
The Oracle man seems to think it an important inquiry whether Mr. Plumer be a believer in the Christian Religion. This however was an inquiry of no consequence when Mr. Smith was their candidate, and why? because Mr. Smith's total neglect of religious duties, and his private opinion, were too well known to need it.
"How beautiful and uniform is consistency"! ! ! If a belief in Christianity is to be the criterion, it is believed even Mr. Gilman's private opinions will by no means bear the test.
