MUNICIPAL POLITICS
Now that the old, old fight is on again for our Municipal Government and the two tickets are nominated and before the people for their choice at the election in March. we want to say that while both tickets are made up of good men, it is time for Elkins to get away from this village procedure of selecting candidates and have political government and some party responsible for it. We insist that if we are going to put on metropolitan airs and lay claim to being a city, it is high time to have city government and a straight out Democratic ticket and Republican ticket for our municipal offices.
We have tried for a month or two to find some one with authority to call a Democratic convention, but as we have no County chairman and no City committee, there seemed to be no way to get at it and it looks now like we will have to allow the matter to go over for two years more. With the old wet and dry fight still on after thirteen years of State Prohibition and five years of National Prohibition, we are keeping up the greatest joke of the period.
