UNDATED. Spanish headquarters, June 19th - General Franco announced that Insurgent armies finally entered Bilbao at 2:30 p.m. without resistance. The message was flashed throughout insurgent Spain.

Nationalist Field Headquarters Outside of Bilbao, June 22 - Thousands of Basque Loyalist soldiers still in the Bilbao area seemed almost cut off from retreat when the Nationalists laid down a shattering bombardment along the west side of the Nervion river. There was almost a curtain of fire all the way from Bilbao to the sea. Great shells dropped down on the west side of the river and could be seen exploding in the country far along the loyalist line of retreat.
