Arrange For Community Chest Drive
The Council of Social Agencies held their monthly luncheon meeting at Lee's Orient Restaurant Friday at noon. Chairman Dwight Hunter introduced Captain Carl Hilton, president of the Community Chest, who reported that team captains and workers had volunteered from most of Key West's organizations to canvass residents and visitors and make collections for the campaign fund. Captain Hilton said that a buffet supper will be served all workers at the Jackson Square USO tonight from 6 to 7 o'clock.
The "kick-off" supper will be attended by representatives from the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Key West Business Men's Association, Women's Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, Municipal Hospital Family Service Auxiliary, Boy Scouts, Lions, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Federated Civil Service Workers, Poinciana Residents and the U. S. Navy. All organizations are invited to send workers to the meeting, when the details of the campaign will be discussed.
Social workers present at the council meeting were Mrs. Ruby Morgan, Miss Ruth Lange, Helen Porter, George Mills White, Mrs. R. Nettles, Miss Marie Hartell, Rev. James McConnell, Loretta Green, Jane Hopkins, Mrs. Eileen S. Coughlin, Mrs. Mary Nunn and Miss Helen McNeill.
