Two Killed In Paint Plant Fire

CLEVELAND, (AP)- Two men were killed and three firemen burned critically Saturday in a $400,000 fire marked by spectacular explosions of paint products at the Perma Products Co.

More than 100 firemen from 15 fire companies fought the early morning blaze and scores of spectators, ran for cover as large drums of paint and stain exploded, showering sparks and flaming liquid over the neighborhood.

Killed were Charles Bastar, 60, night watchman at the plant, and William Chavin, about 45, a shipping clerk.

Company officials estimated damage at $400,000.
