"There has been a very extraordinary and surprizing Cure performed here, by the Sieur Andrien, a French Surgeon, and Oculist of the City of Lyons, upon a Girl of six Years old, the Daughter of Giles Thibaut, a Mechanic in the Parish of d'Haubourdin. The Child was blind from her Birth, and the Operation was performed on the 22d of last Month, in the Presence of two Surgeons. Dr. Boucher, Dr. Cyrteau, and Dr. Henne, all eminent Physicians of this Place were present when the Bandages were taken off on the 6th and 7th Day after the Operation, and were unexceptionable Witnesses of several singular and curious Facts, of which an exact and circumstantial Narrative will be shortly published. This Girl is thoroughly cured, sees perfectly well, and on the 15th of this Month was presented by the Sieur Andrien to the Magistrates, who have granted him such a Certificate as he desired, and bestowed upon him all the Praises he deserved."
