The Georgetown And Arlington R. R.-The District of Columbia Commissioners have reported upon the House bill to incorporate the Georgetown and Arlington railroad company of the District of Columbia. In Major Raymond's recommendation, which was approved yesterday, he said: "In my opinion the proposed railway will be a great convenience to the public. The only part of the line within the limits of the District of Columbia is that which crosses the free bridge. The roadway of this bridge is 24 feet in width. A single track with grooved rails laid flush with the surface of the bridge would not interfere in any serious degree with carriage travel. Section 9 provides that the company shall commence the construction of the railway within one year from the approval of the act and complete it within three years from the date of such approval. The time allowed is longer than necessary or customary. I think the road should be commenced within six months and completed within one year from the date of approval." The report was to have been submitted to Congress to-day. It is proposed to connect this road with one of those recently chartered by the legislature, which, if built, will secure an all rail route from the foot of King street through the city and county to Georgetown.
