Event Details
A violent whirlwind struck the north side of Market street, took off the roof and otherwise badly damaged the dwelling house of Mr. Wm. M. Harriss, demolished his kitchen and other out-buildings, badly wrecked a house belonging to Mrs. Mills, grazed Mr. Gadsby's house, and destroyed some other small buildings. After passing the buildings the wind-column travelled off in a northeasterly direction, sweeping off tops of large trees like a sickle cutting grain.
