RECONSTRUCTING,—The New York Journal of Commerce has published several letters from the South, and comments upon the condition of the Southern people as follows: "One of the most instructive lessons taught in our Southern series of letters, is that of the sure reward that attends on patience, courage and persistence at the South, as everywhere else. Wherever the Southern people have taken hold of their wrecked fortunes with courage and hope, "letting bygones be bygones," they have brought back much of their old prosperity, and in some places are better off than before the war."
