School Head Asks Problem Query

DES MOINES, Ia., June 20.-(INS) —A more realistic approach to the problems of modern agriculture was suggested recently by Miss Jessie Parker, Iowa superintendent of public instruction.

"Overemphasis has been placed on production," Miss Parker said in a letter to school superintendents calling a conference on teaching of agriculture in the high schools,

"The unusual financial conditions that prevail throughout the world make a change in the type of instruction seem necessary."

The letter then suggested that more stress should be placed on agricultural economics, including co-operative marketing, price levels for producer and consumer, general farm management, conservation, erosion control, relation of the farm to the government, tenancy problem and the value of home ownership.

Miss Parker was elected last fall on the Republican ticket.
