Janet Pohutski, 17, and Geraldine Sims, 14, both students of Ecorse High School, received awards for volunteer work done during the summer vacation.
Janet, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Pohutski of 4290 Sixth Street, gave 100 volunteer hours in cooperation with the United Community Volunteer summer program.
Geraldine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Sims, 3759 Eighteenth Street, gave 50 hours of service in cooperation with the Central Volunteer Bureau.
They were among many students from other communities who spent part of their summer vacation as volunteer workers in several agencies throughout the area.
Mrs. Virginia White, Campaign Director, presented the awards.
