The Fare of Jefferson Davis.

The Fortress Monroe correspondent of the New York World writes as follows about Jefferson Davis:

Mr. Davis is supplied with everything in the shape of creature comforts; his fare is as good as any first-class hotel could offer (being supplied from the table of Post-surgeon Cooper). He smokes the most fragrant Havanas, and has access to the library of the fort. Mrs. Davis can visit him at all hours during the day, and no restraint is placed upon their interviews. He has his regular walks on the ramparts of the fortification, and in his perambulation he is not even interrupted by idle curiosity seekers who may perchance gain admittance inside of the fortress—a recent order having been issued prohibiting persons ascending the parapets while Mr. Davis is out walking.

Being well supplied with the daily journals, he pays great attention to all they contain. From this source he became acquainted with the fact of his indictment by Grand Jury, lately in session at Norfolk. Instead of being downcast through this circumstance, he seems to be elated at the prospect of a speedy trial.
