TO THE FARMERS OF THE VALLEY.
We notice that Mr. Thornton Berry is warning the farmers to beware of all Hinge and Centredraught machines. We would like to know if he counts himself a judge. We don't consider a man a judge of such machinery as he has reference to at this time after using a thrashing machine two seasons and wear it out; and he would hardly be capable to put up one of his if he had not a hand that is more experienced than he is himself. And another thing we see that Mr. Berry is requesting of men to give certificates that is no more fitten than he is himself, and if Mr. Berry can't get certificates of no other than those whose judgments are but a drop in the ocean, he had better have none. We have no doubt Mr. Berry with his profession may get along in this country with his certificates, but he would hardly want these certificates to go to the world to come. We think if he can go there with such certificates we pity those who have to follow after,
Yours truly, &c.,
