Fire Hits Church At Mechanicsburg
Fire struck again at the First Methodist Church at Mechanicsburg last week as workmen still were repairing major damage caused by the disastrous blaze which struck several months ago.
Workmen and the contractor had been using a salamander for heat in the attic where they were working.
The portable stove was set up too close to the roof and sheeting, and rafters were ignited. An effort was made to extinguish the blaze with buckets of water until the fire department was called.
Damage was not heavy, according to firemen.
