BOSTON, July 31.
We hear from good authority, that his Excellency the Governor, by advice of Council, has put a stop to any further establishments of troops ordered to be raised by the Legislature in its last session, agreeably to the powers vested in him by the celebrated resolution of the 16th of June last, for quieting the disorders in this commonwealth: and, at the same time, has directed the officer in command, to reduce the number in service, to two hundred men, officers included, on the 20th of August next ensuing.—We most sincerely congratulate the public on this event, as it carries the very pleasing evidence of the commotions which have disturbed this State in the course of the last winter, being in a fair way to a happy adjustment.
We are informed, that his Excellency our worthy and patriotic chief magistrate, proposes a visit to the western counties, to review the militia in that district in the last of September, provided his health will admit. A design which reflects high honor on his zeal and activity in the public service.
