Flounces for gowns of rough cloth like the one shown below have a warm and pretty look which is lacking in the beaded costumes of sheer stuffs. This sample is made of rough mixed woolen goods with a gored skirt and a basque. The latter has a full gathered into a belt and the loose to are let into the side seams. They back in revers and collar which faced with ivory cloth, the fronts lined with ivory satin. The sleeves have narrow turned back cuffs. Don't you believe that hair pettl- A' are being worn. If there is hair ::3 anywhere about the gown it is tnto the gown itself, and though evenlng and house wear, godet of the most pronounced pattern rn. for the street the exaggeration ort is not encouraged. It is too wy for one thing, It cannot be lifted ortably for another, and you can't down on it or get through a crowd As to silk linings, they cannot to gar, though there should be no cothing but plain lining. Fairly d silk in beautiful colors costs so lit- these days that it is worth while to eit over for linings. Many imported gowns have neck ef- ts simulating an elaborate collarette cbemisette. These might well be ed. but it would be much better to the collarette be detachable. The trarter of the gown way then be ged by a shift of neck finish and gretty collarette can be of use on ra than one gown. Va dyke laces e Leavier machine patterns are 4tted with collars and then heav- ang'ed and jeweled. A deep frill chiffon is set under the points bigh choker of chiffon mounts the at. The effect is charming, and a i1: time and patience is all that is Ced to attain it.
