D U B L I N. March 28.

The new settlement about to be made by the English in the Western parts of Canada, may prove eventually of very great advantage to that enterprising people, particularly as the lands on the shores of the Lakes Superior, Huron, and Ontario, are esteemed by many equal to that of the United States in goodness ;--they yield Indian corn in many parts, and very fine wheat in some--and as the country is more inland, the air is far warmer there than about Quebec. so that all sorts of garden stuff which grows in Europe, flourish there, and even tobacco thrives in general very well. Coals abound on the North shore of Lake Erie, and the forests produce a great variety of building timber, and other woods,' which through time may prove of essential service to the British Navy ;-besides, there is a fine lead mine near Frontenac, and (according to that ingenious traveller, Mr. Smith) in some of the mountains silver has been found, though no great advantage has as yet been made of it.

With all those natural advantages on their side, the English may certainly render West Canada, through time a most delightful country ; particularly, when it is considered that all the fine Lakes with which it is environed, are navigable for large vessels, and may in future perhaps be covered with shipping, in order to convey the commodities of different nations to the inhabitants who settle along their shores.
