Full Text

The Jeffersonian of the 6th ult. contains an article charging the Whigs with having forfeited all their pledges and therefore they are not worthy of the confidence of a free people. Gen. Jackson went into power under a promise of Reform and Retrenchment and was in office eight years and did not fulfil his promises. Mr. Van Buren's administration was a continuation of Gen. Jackson's. but in these twelve years they had not time to bring about the Reform and Retrenchment promised, but it is expected of the Whigs in little more than a year that they should fulfil all the promises that they made.

Yes, Mr. Jeffersonian, we did say that our Candidates would have to contend almost against hope, and why! Because many of your party are so completely joined to their idols that the force of truth cannot reach them.
