Col. John W. Straughn has resigned the office of Deputy Sheriff and Jailor, and will in a few days go to Colorado to look after the interests of the Dodge City Mining Company. Col. Straughn has held the offices of Deputy Sheriff and Jailor for over three years past, under two Sheriffs, and has discharged the duties of the offices with fidelity and satisfaction. The Colonel retains the office of Coroner, a position to which he has been twice elected. As Superintendent of the Dodge City Mining Company the Colonel will devote the summer in opening the mines, which promise to bear good results.

The Colonel has moved his family into the house lately occupied by Mr. Everman. The citizens of Dodge City and Ford county certainly wish him success in his new field of labor, and trust millions await him.
