Augusta, Ga., April 1.—The family of Mr. Calvin C. Seago, living about six miles from Augusta, on the old Savannah road, were saved from death by fire last night by a turkey gobbler. Fire started in the kitchen and was rapidly burning toward the front of the house when the family was awakened by a terrific noise made by the turkey in the yard. The bird was found to be walking around the house gobbling away at a merry clip. So soon as the family had gotten out of the house the bird disappeared and has not been seen since. The fire was confined to the rear portion of the house.
