On Wednesday evening Gen. Parker, Maj. Snelling, and several other officers, arrived in town from Burlington. We believe it is intended to organize immediately the 12 months men raised in this and neighbouring states, and to hasten their movement to the frontiers. It is supposed there are about 900 in the District of Maine.
The British have attempted nothing on Lake Champlain, since the Plattsburgh expedition. Offensive operations against them will probably soon commence in that quarter.
The maritime coast is to be defended by Fencibles.
