[COMMUNICATED.]

Sir: I am gratified at the manner in which you conduct the "Native American," and I trust the young men will not fail to encourage you by their pens and their prayers; as for us who have passed the ability of holding steady pens, I hope our good wishes and prayers may be considered acceptable. Go on boldly and fearlessly, and in the same chaste and vigorous style that now characterizes your productions, and you will not fail to command the confidence and esteem of your countrymen, no matter of what party they consist.
