Full Text

Washington's Birthday.—Not being a legal day, the courts were closed yesterday, of course. With the exception of Miss Dougray's ball—which, though given night before last, was in honor of the birth of the Father of his Country—there were no commemorative demonstrations of a public character. This national holiday passed quietly away in Pioche, with the usual average increase of mud. But in private circles the spotless and immortal patriot was not forgotten; his life and character were the general topic of conversation in store, office, and workshop.
