Event Details
Between 7 and 8 o'clock, about two miles on this side Little Gunpowder Falls, several men (two on horses, others afoot) stopped the southern post rider, carried him into the woods, and robbed him of his mail and pistols but not his money. They refused to return the pistols, citing orders to seize all arms. Mr. William Mathews of Baltimore and a lady of Christiana, traveling with the post, were also stopped and taken into the woods but nothing was taken from them.
