In a well delivered address on the subject, "Hitler's German Program will lead to political destruction", Donald Pay, senior classman, won the extemporaneous speaking contest over six classmates at Carbon county high school Thursday night and also the right to represent the school in the district contest to be held at Columbus next month.
Ruth Christiani was declared second-place winner in the school contest, her subject being, "The Russian socialistic plan". Winner of third place was Robert Ball on the subject, "India should not have self government".
Other speakers and their subjects were Eino Hyyppa, "We should not allow munition manufacturing to draw us into war"; Paavo Puumala, "The United States should prepare for war"; Neva Evans, "The Red influence in America has been underestimated" and John Mayer, "Japan justified in naval parity."
Judges of the contest Thursday night were Claude A. Johnson, local attorney, and E. Burke of the Bearcreek school faculty.
