SEABRIGHT, N. J., July 24. (U.P.) --Both seeded lists were in the second round of the Seabright invitational tennis play, headed by Helen Jacobs of Berkeley, Cal., and Wilmer Allison, Texas. Allison defeated Upsur Moorehead of the local club in straight sets. Miss Jacobs won with equal ease over Theodosia Smith of Pasadena, Cal. Following Allison were Bryan Grant of Atlanta, Frankie Parker of Spring Lake, N. J., Gregory Mangin of Newark, Johnny Van Ryn of Philadelphia, Gene Mako of Los Angeles, Berkeley Bell of New York, who advanced by default, and Don Budge, of Oakland, Cal. Only three seeded women players, besides Miss Jacobs, were forced to play their way into the second round. These were Caroline Babcock, Los Angeles; Baroness Maud Levy, New York, and Mrs. Marjorie Gladman Van Ryn of Philadelphia. Jane Sharp, California, was rubbed out of the singles play by Catherine Wolf of Chicago, and Norma Taube of New York lost to Helen Fulton of Chicago. Elizabeth Ryan, of California and London, gained the second round doubles, paired with Miss Jacobs, together with Miss Cruickshank and Mrs. Van Ryn, Miss Sharp and Miss Taube, and Ruby Bishop and Marianne Hunt of San Marino, Calif. Henry Prushoff, Seattle, Wash., giant, and Johnny Doeg, former national champion, also gained the second round.
