Full Text

A Courtroom Scene.

Judge Sabin of Nevada, says the San Francisco Bulletin, is hearing Chinese habeas corpus cases in the United States Circuit Court. There are some 25 women and children present applying to be allowed to land. Some of the latter are hardly old enough to walk. Some of the applicants are quite good looking and superbly dressed in silk and satin of all the colors of the rainbow, their hair being most elaborately dressed and decorated. The lobby is well filled with Chinamen, numbering over 100. There are scarcely a half-dozen white persons in the room, including the Judge, court officers and attorneys. The picture presented is one worthy of the artist's pencil.
