GOOD NEWS.
After experiencing for seventeen months past, an almost total annihilation of our commerce and the loss of millions by Mr. Jefferson's embargo and philosophical experiments, it is with much pleasure we find that the situation of affairs between the United States and Great-Britain are in a train for amicable and honorable adjustment.
Whatever the causes which have interrupted that friendly intercourse, which is so much for the independence and prosperity of both nations to preserve, may have been, we hope now to see those who have for a long time endeavoured to involve the country in a war with England, abandon their ruinous schemes, and adopt the maxim, "in peace be friends."
We hope to hear no more about "British partizans," "tories" and such magic terms conjured up by office seekers to impose on the honest citizens to serve the basest purposes, of men destitute of either moral or political rectitude.
The renewal of intercourse with England will be highly advantageous to the interests of the citizens of Maine.
